Executive Chef Q Coleman was born in Cuba, where his parents owned a chain of restaurants [called “The Yank”]. Needless to say, he grew up in the Food & Beverage business. Prior to ‘leaving' Cuba, he had already graduated from the Havana Culinary Institute. He worked as a Butler and Chef de Cuisine in Brazil before coming to the US. Here, in this country, he has worked as Chef, Maître D' and F&B Manager for many luxurious restaurants and hotels in various states. In 1985, he opened his own catering and event planning business, featuring Franco-Cuban cuisine.
Chef de Cuisine Joanie Carter had years of experience with various prestigious companies, including the in-house catering position for Haynes & Boone law firm. When she teamed up with Q in 1993, she ‘brought to the table' (so to speak) her Southwestern recipes. Together they combined their talents, styles and seasonings to create ¡Sazón! -- a unique and savory blend of national and international flavors. Sazón means zest -- in Cooking. And

Q and Joanie don't just limit themselves to this unique style, however. They can prepare just about any recipe from any country. And they get into ‘good ole down-home American cookin' --right there with the best of ‘em!
Over the years, they have been the in-house caterers for:
The Plano Centre, The Richardson Civic Center, Old City Park (now Dallas Heritage Village ). They have also operated Catering Venues like The Landmark Club and Infinity Place. They coordinated the entire catering package for the re-opening of the Bronco Bowl (10,000 people)…
